Hi all. Pickcardt i was just wondering if the orbs community was able to aquire new art and an agreed card concept and card text would you be able to code the community created card? I am thinking one card a month would be resonable but even one card every three months would be great. The idea is to generate continued interest in the game and community along with continuing to increase the card data base. I think a file sharing program such as google docs will work best. Something along these lines.

I think this would be a fun and interesting idea. Perhaps we could even have a card of the month that would be created that month by the community and show cased on the orbs site. What’s everyone think? Pickcardt is it possible for you to code a single card per month if the community conveys to you exactly what we want and obtains the necessary art work? I’m thinking we would cycle through the colors to keep the card color base the same.

Im thinking a good place to start is with Pickcardt’s idea of a 5/5 theat enters play and destroys an object. I’m thinking something like this.

Destructive Troll (name can be anything) Cost: 4G Card Type: Ally When destructive Troll enters play destroy target object. 5/5

This would be a good way to keep the game interesting if we got a new card each month. Another thing is everyone should get a free copy of the new card when it is released each month, but is only eligible to claim there free copy if they log in on that month.

This gives me another idea. What if everyone got a random card once a week just for being logged in? Would encourage the newer players to stay in for the long run.

Well, it used to be that there was a daily card every day, then that was changed to you get it each day you log in for your first month of membership. Also, with each game you play you have a chance to get a free card, win or lose. If you win the chance is greater. So, the more games you play, the more chances you have to get a free card ;)

If someone can find the art, I can make new cards.

If someone here creates artwork and would like to see it used as art, that would be great. Or if they know an artist who would be interested, that’s great too.

They’d have to sign something giving me a license to use the art with the game, but if they want the card art to be used then they should be willing to sign that as well. I’m open to either an exclusive or non-exclusive license, and since they’re giving it for free, I would expect we’d all expect a non-exclusive license

For art that you find across the internet, you generally can’t just take it. You usually have to purchase a license from the artist. For instance, most of the art for this game was custom made, however some of it was premade, so I purchased a license. This is why you might see some of the art used elsewhere, because I don’t own the exclusive rights to that art.

A good place to look is deviantArt.

Some artists may be willing to let us use the art for free if you contact them. Further, if the art is licensed under a Creative Commons license that allows for derivations and commercial use, we could use it. This would be the CC BY license found at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/

If it requires attribution, I could put attribution in a separate page on the site. There is not enough design space to place the artist attribution on the card itself.

A fun black card I’d like to create is something along the lines of:

If you have over 100 cards in your graveyard, you win the game.

Also, a purple card I have wanted to add is an object that does something like: All energy costs increase by 2. (This would apply to all cards: in hand, in play, etc. so it would work with Animating Rune)

Thank you for your response Pickcardt.

I have often thought of a card that increased costs, but two may be to high if there are multiple copies in play. It can be frustrating when you are unable to play anything on your turn, especially when you have cards in your hand. I would also suggest instead of another object that needs destroyed that perhaps it should just be a cheap ally.

I think two energy is fine if the cost of the card is high. I see it as a low health ally so it is easy to remove. or an object if we have more object removal options.

but 4 or 5 energy sounds fine for that card.

Yeah, I was also considering just increasing by 1, probably a 3 cost card or something around there.
